Who’s ready for some long but impassioned Once Upon a Time (specifically Mary Margaret/David) meta?

Sorry this recap is so late, fellow Castle fans. This entire week at work has been one long meeting, and my nights (when not at the dance studio) have been spent deeply engrossed in John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars. Also, to be honest, I don’t have much to say about this episode. I enjoyed it immensely, but I think the reason for that can be summed up in one word: Royal. The writers definitely played on my weakness for golden retrievers in this one.

What I’m learning from this season of Castle is that I like drama a lot more than I like comedy. While I do appreciate a good laugh, and there have been many lighter episodes of Castle that I adore, my favorite episodes always seem to be the more dramatic ones. And this episode was no exception.
I’m going to be honest with you, last week’s episode was a very big disappointment for me. Very little actually happened in it that moved the Castle/Beckett relationship forward, and I was let down by that. Thankfully, this episode reminded me of why I tune in every week: to see a realistic, mature relationship develop onscreen; to see character growth done in a very organic way; and to be able to analyze intelligent television writing on a weekly basis.
( "I can't just stop being a cop because it's inconvenient..." )
So what did you think, fellow Castle fans? How did this episode measure up against some of the most memorable dramatic cases in the show’s history? Were you as impressed with the depiction of the Castle/Beckett relationship this week as I was? Let’s get a discussion going!

Remember my New Year's Resolution to write at least one new fic in a new fandom? Well, I'm getting a nice early start on it by signing up for a prompt table from
onceuponaprompt!
I'm really excited to start writing for the Once Upon a Time fandom; I think it's going to fit my style of writing well, and I love the characters. Expect plenty of Snow/Charming (and/or Mary Margaret/David) stories, but I have a couple of ideas for some character study fics based on Emma and her relationships with her son and the parents she never had.
I can't wait to get started!
ETA: Apparently the borders aren't showing up for the table on my LJ, but I think you get the general gist. ;)

Welcome back, fellow Castle fans!
Before I get too deep into my analysis of this episode, let me just sum up my general opinion about it: I liked it. It’s not one of my favorites; it’s not one that I’m going to watch over and over again, but I did thoroughly enjoy it. I thought it was sweet, funny, and full of fun moments for the ensemble. I just wish it would have ended with a little more something. To be honest, I think this episode is proof of why I need to step back from the hype and speculation; too much of those things never lead to anything but disappointment (though the disappointment is slight in this case).
( Shall we? )
Now it’s your turn, my dears! What did you think of Castle’s triumphant return from hiatus? Would you give your left foot for a deleted scene of the reception (or is that just me)? Is my critique of Beckett’s dress totally wrong? Let me know!
Also, I’m thinking of starting recaps like these for Once Upon a Time (probably to be posted every Monday afternoon after a new episode). Would anybody be interested in reading them?

I probably won't be on LJ for the next couple of days in order to celebrate Christmas with my family, so I want to take today to tell all of you that I wish you all of the peace, joy, and love that you could imagine at this time of year and always.
And in the spirit of the season, I want to host a little LOVE POST today. So leave your username or some kind of comment, and let me shower you with virtual hugs and compliments. Feel free to spread the love and comment on each other's comments, too!

So apparently the Holiday Love Meme thing I posted yesterday maxed out on comments, so I made a second thread since I'm a glutton for compliments (and the comments I got yesterday honestly made my day).
Here's the link to my second thread. <3

Alternate titles for this post:
*Better Late Than Never
*THERE WAS A TIGER IN THIS EPISODE
*Holy Sex Noises, Batman!
*Symbolism, You’re Doing It So Right
*Kate Beckett and the Line that Launched a Thousand Fanfics
I love when an episode of Castle makes me smile, and this week’s episode left me with a grin on my face from start to finish (with occasional changes in my facial expression to react to the BEST PLOT TWIST EVER). “Cuffed” was one of those episodes where I felt like all I could do as a fan was sit back and feel grateful that my favorite show is in such good hands. Terri Miller and Andrew Marlowe’s ability to mix humor, sexual tension, honest emotion, and surprising twists was on full display once again, and the subtle way they used this episode as a metaphor for the entire Castle/Beckett relationship is something very few television writers have the talent to pull off. It was truly – as cheesy as this may sound – extraordinary.
